"Israel in effect skipped over the first stage of the Road Map" by going to Annapolis, Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit told Arutz Sheva Wednesday. Israel, he explained, said to the PA: "We are ready to talk despite the fact that you have not stopped the terror."
"However," he said, "they decided not to make any advances in the negotiations before the Palestinians stop the terror."
Sheetrit said that Israel was going about negotiations the wrong way. "They want 1967 borders and return of the refugees, we want 1948 [British Mandate] borders from the Jordan to the sea," he explained. "Let's start with that, there is no compromise on anything. That is how we should begin negotiations. You make concessions in the negotiations, not in the media."
