    Bush Wraps Up Summit

"Yesterday was an important day, and it was a hopeful beginning," U.S. President George W. Bush told Mahmoud Abbas and Ehud Olmert at a speech wrapping up the Annapolis summit. He added that while the events of the peace conference were significant, they were "not nearly as important as tomorrow and the days beyond."

"The US will be actively engaged in the process," Bush told the two leaders who stood by his side. "We will use our prowess to help you," he promised.
