Growing Opposition to Bush's Middle East Arms Deal

More than half of the American House of Representatives is against American President George W. Bush's proposed multi-billion dollar arms sales to Saudi Arabia, Israel and other Middle East countries, Defense News.com reported. Congressmen are hoping to gain enough support that would allow the House to override a presidential veto of a defeat of the bill for the arms sales.

Republican Congressman Mark Kirk (Illinois) and Democratic party Congressman Christopher Carney (Pennsylvania) said that have "serious concerns" that some of the weapons will fall into the hands of terrorists. "The idea that we are going to reward the Saudis with precision weaponry is a stunningly bad idea," said Anthony Weiner, a Democratic Congressman from New York.
