Olmert, Abbas, Bush to Meet Wednesday

United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announced Tuesday that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, and US President George Bush would hold an unscheduled trilateral meeting on Wednesday.  The meeting will formally launch intense negotiations between Israel and the PA, she said.

Olmert and Abbas agreed Tuesday to hold biweekly negotiations beginning in December, with the goal of reaching a final agreement in 2008.  In a joint statement read by President Bush, the two expressed hope for “an end to the bloodshed...and a Palestinian state.”
