Arno Lustiger, a Jewish historian and Holocaust survivor, has raised a lawsuit against fashion magazine Vanity Fair for publishing an interview with Horst Mahler, one of Germany's most rabid neo-Nazi public figures, in its November German edition.
The lawsuit, filed November 7, notes that Mahler denied and minimized the Holocaust, which is illegal in Germany.
In the interview, Mahler said that "Hitler was the liberator of the German people. He is demonized as the liberator of Satan." Before joining the Neo-Nazi movement, Mahler received training in guerrilla tactics from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine after fleeing to Jordan to escape trial for bank robberies committed in Germany.
