Canadian Foreign Minister Maxime Bernier is expected to announce plans for an unspecified amount of additional aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) when he attends the Annapolis conference Tuesday. Canada gave $30 million to the PA for "humanitarian assistance" last year and added another $8 million in July.
A successful outcome of the conference was doubted by former Canadian ambassador to Israel Michael Bell. "Of course, at the end of the day they will come out and say the fact the meeting took place, the fact both sides were willing to discuss [issues] is itself a success," he commented.
