According to an Egyptian officer, Egyptian police recently found 100 land mines and nine bombs in the northern Sinai desert. The bombs were buried approximately 40 kilometers from the border with Israel.
Terrorists in Gaza often sneak bombs and weapons into the area via the Sinai Peninsula. Terrorists have also bombed popular tourist locations in Sinai, killing 125 people since 2004.
