Jews in the majority-Muslim Albert Camus neighborhood of Paris have reported four anti-Semitic attacks in the past three weeks, according to Yediot Acharonot. In each incident Jewish teens were threatened and beaten for being Jewish.
In the first incident, a large group of Muslims forced Jews to leave a local playground, which the Muslims said was “Palestinian territory.” Just days later, two Jewish teens were beaten while walking along a local street. Shortly afterwards, a Jewish teen was beaten and called a “dirty Jew,” and a second teen was assaulted the next day.
The violent attacks were not the only anti-Semitic incidents to take place in the neighborhood. Local Jews reported that even young Muslim children had insulted and cursed local Jewish children. A special police unit has been assigned to patrol the area in an attempt to prevent violence.
