An American federal court Wednesday sentenced a business professor to 11 years and three months in prison for refusing to testify before a grand jury on his activities with Hamas, which the American government has outlawed as a terrorist organization. Abdelhaleem Ashqar told the court that testifying would make him a "traitor or a collaborator" to Arabs.
U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve said that Ashqar "showed no remorse" and that he aided terrorism by hampering a federal investigation on Hamas.
