The Netzach Yehuda battalion, also known as Nahal Hareidi, has promoted IDF service for hareidi-religious young men over the past several weeks in advance of the November IDF recruitment. IDF recruiters have hung flyers in many hareidi-religious neighborhoods seeking young men who are not enrolled in a yeshiva and “want to earn a respectable salary.”
According to the Jerusalem Post, the battalion has also released the names of several Netzach Yehuda soldiers who are the sons or grandsons of prominent rabbis. Among those mentioned were the grandson of Rabbi Pinchas Sheinberg, the son of Rabbi Aryeh Shulman, who is the chief rabbi of Telz Stone, and the son of MK Rabbi Chaim Amsalem (Shas). Rabbi Amsalem expressed support for the campaign, saying “If a young man does not see his future in the yeshiva world, he has an obligation to go out and work.” Young men are not allowed to work without completing IDF service.
