Olmert Snubs Erez, Who Calls Him 'Achashverosh'
(IsraelNN.com) Prime Minister Ehud Olmert refused to meet Secondary School Teachers' Union head Ran Erez Friday, after Erez announced he would go and meet Olmert despite the fact that he hadn't been invited. Erez explained his move by saying that he read Olmert's letter to the teachers in the newspaper and wanted to see if he was serious.
Erez said he would forego his planned meeting with officials from the Ministries of Education and Finance and await Olmert outside the prime minister's office.
Erez was quoted as saying: "Let's go see what Achashverosh has to offer," in reference to Olmert. Achashverosh ruled over Persia in the time of Esther and Mordechai.
