German Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck will meet with representatives of Holocaust survivor organizations in Israel next Wednesday to discuss his country's reparations agreement with the Jewish State.
German officials said Steinbrueck would meet with the survivors themselves, rather than with Israeli government officials, in order to get a sense of the day-to-day experiences of those who lived through the Nazi terror, reported IDF Army Radio on Thursday.
Former Israeli Consul Shimon Stein, who was stationed in Berlin, told IDF Army Radio, "If the government decides that it wants to begin negotiations with Germany, it will find the German government willing to talk."
