Striking Teachers Ask Peres to Intervene

(IsraelNN.com) High school teachers turned to President Shimon Peres Thursday morning to ask him to intervene in their dispute with the government of wages and working conditions.

The strike by the Secondary School Teachers' Association entered its 32nd day Thursday with no end in sight. Talks between the union and representatives of the Finance and Education Ministries have broken down repeatedly.

Some 400,000 students across the country have been affected by the walkout.
