A United States “anti-genocide task force” including former senior politicians plans to investigate several countries and make recommendations to the US government on how to prevent genocide. The task force will include former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of Defense William Cohen, and former Middle East envoy General Anthony Zinni.
Albright told journalists that among other things, the group would look into “the issue of whether genocide has taken place in the West Bank or Gaza.” Officials in the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, which is taking part in the task force project, said the force may investigate Israel, but will focus more on countries where genocide has clearly taken place, such as Rwanda and Sudan.
