Katz Family Appeals to Supreme Court

Family members of slain teenager Danny Katz appealed to the Supreme Court on Tuesday against plans to reduce the jail sentences of the Israeli-Arab terrorists convicted of his murder.  President Shimon Peres recently decided to reduce their sentences, a decision that has been approved by Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann.  The men will now be eligible for release in the near future.

Katz’s family argues that a committee studying the possibility of early release heard from representatives of the murderers, but did not speak to the Katz family or even notify the family of its decision.  The family has accused Peres of giving in to political pressure from the extreme-left, which has claimed that the men in prison did not actually murder Katz and were pressured into confessing.
