A new poll by a consortium comprised of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Labor, the Koret Fund and the Miliken Institute indicated in its findings Sunday that some 70 percent of hareidi religious men in Israel are out of work, and at least 50 percent of hareidi religious women are unemployed as well.
A report by the Haaretz news service claimed that the survey showed part of the reason for the lopsided numbers was related to the low level of education and training in the hareidi religious sector for secular employment. The average salary in Bnai Brak was found to be NIS 4,482 per month in Bnai Brak, NIS 3,945 in Elad and NIS 3,203 in Beitar Illit. All are below the poverty line.
