Egypt to Israel: Forget About Gaza Offensive

Egypt has demanded that Israel call off the massive operation it is planning to hold in Gaza after the Annapolis conference. A PLO source told Al Quds al Arabi that Egypt is concerned such an operation will endanger the "peace process" and destabilize the region.

Egypt warned Israel that Al Qaeda operatives might attack Israeli tourists in the Sinai desert or even launch attacks against Israel itself, in retaliation for a Gaza operation.

Mahmoud Abbas reportedly asked the U.S. to pressure Israel to call off the attack.
