An Arab resident of eastern Jerusalem was arrested a month ago on suspicion that he tried to acquire and sell information regarding Guy Chever, an Israeli soldier who went missing in the Golan Heights ten years ago. A gag order on the case was lifted Friday.

The suspect is a member of the Democratic Front terror group. He allegedly contacted a Hizbullah agent and tried to get information about Chever, claiming it could assist in the release of Arab terrorists currently in Israeli jails, including child-murderer Samir Kuntar. He was hoping to give Israel the information in exchange for the release of his brother, who is being held in jail and will not be released until 2023.

The suspect was arrested in a cooperative effort by the SHABAK (general Security Service) and a special unit of the Jerusalem Police. He was charged today in the Jerusalem District Court.
