A Washington event featuring attempts by leaders of the three major religions to be involved in the planned Annapolis, Maryland conference required equal media coverage for each faith, TIME magazine reported. Reporters were told that any interview of a Muslim, Christian or Jewish leader would have to include interviews with the other two, also.
One cleric of the Council of Religious Institutions of the Holy Land precluded several touchy questions by stating, "There is no point in asking us about matters of political, technical concern."
Israeli Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger took advantage of the conference to make a plea for the end of incitement to hatred of Israel in schools, implying the Palestinian Authority (PA) policy of including hatred of Israel and of Jews in school textbooks.
