Rishon L'Tzion Mayor Meir Nitzan has announced that, "IKEA will be built here," despite recent cancellation of a plan for the furniture store's construction in the town.
"There's nothing to worry about," the mayor told Globes. "There's no reason in the world why an IKEA store won't be built here. 87.4% of the city's residents have said that they'll shop there."
Referring to the Tel Aviv Court decision striking down the rezoning that would have enabled the store's constriction, Nitzan said: "All this drivel is by people who don’t know what the city needs. A city needs jobs, and Rishon LeZion, which is a city with a young population, needs jobs, especially for women."
An extremely popular IKEA already exists in Netanya.
