Likud party chairman and Knesset opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu says the Palestinian Authority may be a partner for statements, "but not for actions or true peace."
Netanyahu warned in an interview on Voice of Israel government radio Tuesday morning, "If we set up a Palestinian state now, we will get an Iranian state." He added that he would agree to a deal allowing the PA to rule its own territory with "limited sovereignty" to minimize the security threat to Israel, but the idea is not realistic because there is no real partner with whom to deal.
The Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations operating throughout the Palestinian Authority both receive funding, equipment and advanced terrorist training from Iran. Hamas took over Gaza completely last June.
