Eight senior Indonesian journalists are visiting Israel despite the lack of diplomatic ties between the two countries. They met with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, who told them that Israel is "open to relations with anyone who wishes them."
Indonesia is the world largest Muslim country, and its former president, Abdurrahman Wahid, was a strong backer of normalizing relations. It also has agreed to attend the planned Middle East conference in Annapolis, Maryland, which the American government hopes will take place in December.
