The Ministry of Interior has permitted seven Iraqi children to enter Israel for emergency medical treatment. The children, aged two to nine, suffer from heart diseases, and will be treated at Rambam Hospital in Haifa.
The children will enter Israel accompanied by six adults. The head of the Population Administration, Yakov Genot, issued special passes for this purpose, despite the fact that citizens of Iraq are normally not allowed into Israel.
The project is a joint effort of Rambam Hospital and the "Shevet Achim" organization.
