Sources in the Arabic paper “Kol el-Arab” said Thursday that Israeli security officials are planning to arrest several leaders of the northern branch of the extremist Islamic Movement. The head of the northern branch, Sheikh Ra’ed Salah, has been charged with incitement.
Salah has told Muslims that Israel is planning to destroy the mosques on the Temple Mount, and has said “you are the infantry that must defend the Al-Aksa Mosque.” An Islamic Movement spokesman said Thursday that Israel was “trying to force us to pay a price... for protecting the holy places.”
