(IsraelNN.com) Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On is planning to rescind another reform that his predecessor Binyamin (Bibi) Netanyahu instituted and wants to separate the customs and value added tax (VAT) departments from the income tax division. The reversal of the reform follows recommendations by a committee, that also urged the head of the income tax division to serve as director of the Tax Authority.

Committee chairman Yitzchak Suari explained that the recent Tax Authority scandal "raises questions about the basic integrity of public service in general and of the Tax Authority in particular."
