Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni warned Wednesday night that raising expectations of results in the planned Annapolis, Maryland conference "can lead to frustration and to violence." Speaking at a  joint press conference with American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the Foreign Minister added that past experience shows that violence results from over-optimism.

She also implied that the Palestinian Authority (PA) is not compromising enough on difficult issues. "The idea is to reach an understanding, to find a common ground, to find what is the common denominator of the obligations... We need to understand that there's a need for compromise, for compromises by both sides. Israel is willing to do so," she told reporters.
