Quartet envoy Tony Blair has created a series of initiatives geared towards making high-visibility changes to Arab life in Judea and Samaria, in order to maintain Arab interest in negotiations with Israel. According to Haaretz, Blair has proposed the formation of a joint Israeli-Palestinian Authority committee that would work on security issues in Judea and Samaria.
As part of the proposal, the IDF would ease movement throughout the area while the PA would conduct anti-terrorist operations in the IDF’s place. Blair’s proposed committee would include himself, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
