U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice criticized the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday, saying it may jeopardize democracy in the country.
Rice said she believes “there is too much concentration of power in the Kremlin.” She added, “Everybody has doubts about the full independence of the judiciary. There are clearly questions about the independence of the electronic media and there are, I think, questions about the strength of the Durma (Russian parliament).”
Rice made the comments to reporters with whom she met following a meeting with human rights activists.
