Clinton Would Talk with Iran 'Without Preconditions'

Democratic US presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton said Thursday she would negotiate with Iran "with no conditions" if she were president. "I would engage in negotiations with Iran, with no conditions, because we don't really understand how Iran works. We think we do, from the outside, but I think that is misleading," she told a potential voter at a stop on her campaign.

Clinton campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson later sought to clarify her comments, saying that while she believes in diplomatic engagement with Iran, "she does not agree with Senator [Barack] Obama ... that the United States president should precommit to meeting directly with Mr. Ahmadinejad."

Earlier in the campaign, Clinton publicly blasted fellow contender Obama for saying that he would talk to Iran with no preconditions, calling him "naïve."
