An unnamed negotiator for the Palestinian Authority (PA) has said that the PA now accepts the Taba agreement that Yasser Arafat refused six years, according to Voice of Israel government radio. The agreement called for Israel offering approximately 95 percent of Judea, Samaria and Gaza.
The agreement also called for a land swap, with Israel giving up parts of Jerusalem, but the PA rejected Israeli sovereignty over Ma'aleh Adumim and Givat Ze'ev. Both Israel and the PA accepted the idea that Jerusalem would be the capital of both governments. The PA also was to recognize Israeli control over the Western Wall, but PA Adnan Husseini, aide to Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, said Thursday night the Western Wall is part of "Islamic heritage."
