Secondary school teachers will go ahead with a strike on Wednesday to protest the government’s unwillingness to raise salaries and cooperate on education reforms.
Union officials failed to reach an agreement with the Education Ministry in last-ditch negotiations Tuesday afternoon. Union leader Ran Erez said the teachers had whittled their demands for a 20 percent wage hike down to 15 percent, but a deal was not reached.
