Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan Monday that the agenda for next month’s Mideast Summit in the U.S. will not include discussions on the status of the Golan Heights.
Olmert said in response to Babacan’s urging to include Syrian-Israeli relations in summit discussion that Israel does not object to Syria’s participation, but “only if it wants to be involved in our negotiations with the Palestinians. It would be wrong to include other issues,” he said.
Babacan tried to convince Olmert to initiate a dialogue with Syria, without success.
