The Israeli Air Force revealed a new plane called the “Eitan” to the public on Monday. The airplane does not need a pilot, and is capable of flying for 24 hours straight. It is the size of a Boeing 737 and can carry up to one ton of equipment.
IAF officials said the plane made its first voyage in July of last year, and will be added to the IAF fleet in approximately one year. They expressed hope that the plane would be useful in gathering information.
The IAF also revealed a second unmanned aircraft, called the “Hermes 450.” The IAF revealed very little information about the plane. According to Maariv, anonymous sources say the “Hermes 450” is capable of carrying various kinds of weapons and can be used to attack ground targets during the day or at night.
