Hamas Says Fatah Rejected Reconciliation Talks

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas rejected a Sudanese bid to hold reconciliation talks with Hamas, according to Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri. He charged that the Abbas-led PA "is still mortgaging itself to the American will and desires that ban any meeting between Hamas and Fatah."
He also denied comments by an aide to Abbas that Hamas has been asking Israel to meet with its leaders. "These remarks aim at covering the PA attitude which runs behind the Israeli occupation despite the ongoing offensive against the Palestinian people," said Abu Zuhri.
