Iran is worried that the apparent IDF attack in northern Syria last month reveals serious failures in Syria's air defense systems, according to the authoritative Aviation Week magazine in the United States. Israel reportedly succeeded in disabling Syrian radar systems, a tactic that could make it possible for Israel to strike Iran through Syrian airspace.
 
The Bush administration several times has stated it would not rule out military action against Iran if no progress is made to curtail the country's development of a nuclear program. Analysts have said that an American strike would be backed or even led by Israeli forces.
