(IsraelNN.com) Likud official and former Israeli ambassador to the United States Zalman Shuval said Monday that Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni ignored the current situation during her Monday speech about negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.  Livni discussed basic principles for negotiations with the Palestinian Authority, Shuval said, “but ignores the fact that [Prime Minister Ehud] Olmert and [Vice Premier Chaim] Ramon already capitulated in advance, getting nothing in exchange, on many of Israel’s stances regarding security, Jerusalem, and borders.”

In her speech at the United Nations, Livni said that the conflict between Israel and the PA “is not based on territory, but rather on values.”  However, she said, “as we have proven in the past, we are prepared for territorial compromise as required by the peace process.”
