Approximately half of the 87 terrorists that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has ordered to be released are preparing to make their way to the Betunia checkpoint, where dozens of their relatives are waiting. The release of several of the terrorists still is being delayed until President Shimon Peres finishes signing necessary documents.
Arab leaders already have called for the release of more than 10,000 other terrorists and prisoners, many of them with "blood on the hands," who are in Israeli jails.
