(IsraelNN.com) Fifty-seven percent of Palestinian Authority (PA) Arabs think the scheduled Middle East conference in the United States next month will be unsuccessful, according to a poll carried out by the An-Najah University. Two-thirds of the respondents generally are pessimistic about their situation.

In explaining the background of the Arab-Israeli conflict to its readers, the Angus-Reid Global monitor which scans the polls recalled the United Nations mandate partitioning the region into a State of Israel and a new Trans-Jordanian state, but did not mention the Arab rejection of the decision. It also did not mention the constant Arab attacks on Israel in 1948 and ensuing years but did tell its clients and readers, "The region has seen constant disagreement between Israel and the Palestinians...[and] wars broke out in the region in the second half of the 20th Century."
