The police's heightened state of alert in Jerusalem was relaxed around noontime after the Friday prayers by Muslims at the Temple Mount ended without incident.

4,000 policemen had been stationed throughout the Old City in order to maintain the peace on the third Friday of the Muslim month of Ramadan.

While all Arabs with Israeli IDs were allowed into the Temple Mount, Arab men from Judea and Samaria were only allowed in if they were over 45 and had special permits, or if they were over 50. Women over 30 from Judea and Samaria who had permits could enter the Old City and those over 45 could enter without permits.
