More than 20 New York City police detectives are investigating the smearing of swastikas and other anti-Semitic messages in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood. The timing of the vandalism on cars and buildings during the Jewish holiday season prompted the police to initiative a large-scale probe.

Swastikas and hate messages were spray painted on two synagogues, seven houses or apartments, sidewalks, and three cars.
