Rabbi Avraham Shapira, the head of the Merkaz HaRav yeshiva in Jerusalem, remained hospitalized on Wednesday morning in the intensive care unit of Sha’arei Tzedek. Sources close to the rabbi said that he was fully concious and under constant medical supervision.
Rabbi Shapira is one of the leaders of the national-religious community. Community leaders have asked the public to offer prayers for the rabbi using his Hebrew name, Rabbi Avraham Elkana HaCohen ben Henna Raizel.
