Rabbi Ovadia Yosef Against Ramon Plan to Divide J'lem
Rabbi Ovadia Yosef has come out against the Kadima Party's plan to divide Jerusalem, according to Army Radio.
The plan, floated as the Chaim Ramon Plan due to the Vice-Premier's floating of the concept, calls for the relinquishing of Jerusalem neighborhoods deemed "Arab" by negotiators. It also calls for Israel to relinquish sovereignty over the Temple Mount and parts of the Old City.
Rabbi Yosef, former Sephardic chief rabbi and the spiritual head of the Shas Party, met with Likud MK Reuven Rivlin Tuesday morning and promised his party would act to prevent the advancement of the plan.
