Lebanon Anti-Syrian MPs Fear More Attacks

Members of the anti-Syrian coalition government in Lebanon have gone underground or have left the country following the recent assassination of coalition legislator Antoine Ghanem, according to the Arab News publication. "There are instructions for us not to move [freely], not to have a fixed agenda, not to use the same vehicles," said lawmaker Marwan Hamadeh. He survived an assassination attempt three years ago.

Approximately 40 parliament members have moved into a high-security wing of a luxury hotel. Syria has been blamed for being behind the recent attack in an attempt to undermine the anti-Syrian party in the upcoming presidential elections.

Eight anti-Syrian legislators have been murdered since 2004.
