Ben Gurion Back Up to Speed

The international airway to Israel was reestablished on Saturday as the Yom Kippur fast ended. Ben Gurion airport reopened at 9:30 p.m., with nine takeoffs and 13 landings expected before operations close for the night at about 1 a.m.

Although the airport closed at about 1 p.m. Friday, Erev Yom Kippur was a relatively busy day, with some 23,000 passengers arriving or departing on a total of 133 flights.

Buses began running again Saturday night at about 7:30 p.m., with all lines back in operation by 9:30 p.m. Train service will restart on Sunday morning.
