IDF sources reported Saturday night that a battery of air force planes had been dispatched to the northern Galilee earlier in the day, in the midst of the Yom Kippur fast - because a plane that Israeli radar had been tracking on the Syrian side suddenly disappeared.

Fearing that the Syrians had sent a stealth fighter to invade Israeli airspace, a squadron of planes were dispatched and the area was put on alert for an attack. The alert was rescinded when it was learned that the Syrian jet had crashed on the Syrian side of the border.
