Lebanon on Saturday arrested a dual Israeli-German citizen on charges of spying and murder, a Lebanese newspaper said Saturday. The man, Daniel Sharon, was said by reports to be suspected of involvement in the murder of a Lebanese citizen, and during the course of the investigation, he came under suspicion of also having committed espionage on behalf of Israel, the papers said.

Israeli authorities on Saturday night said that Sharon was a businessman who worked for a large multinational concern and conducted business throughout the Middle East, including Lebanon, and that his Israeli citizenship was well-known to those with whom he did business. They denied that Sharon had been involved in any spying activity on behalf of Israel.
