Jimmy Carter: Attack by Iran 'Almost Inconceivable'

(IsraelNN.com) An attack on Israel by Iran is very unlikely, according to former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. The 83-year-old former president told participants in a conference at Emory University Wednesday that “Iran is quite distant from Israel. I think it would be almost inconceivable that Iran would commit suicide by launching one or two missiles of any kind against the nation of Israel.”

Carter was responding to statements by Iranian officials that they have prepared battle plans in case of an attack on the country’s nuclear installations by Israel or the U.S.  The United Nations has implemented sanctions against the recalcitrant nation, which has ignored demands by the international body to halt its uranium enrichment program, a precursor to building a nuclear weapon.
