(IsraelNN.com) A committee under the radical Higher Arab Monitoring Committee called a press conference Tuesday in order to announce a boycott against El Al airlines. The group says it called the boycott to protest El Al's security measures, which it says unfairly target Arabs.

The group also said it wants to combat the "persecution" against Islamic Movement Chief Ra'ed Salah, who called for an Israeli-Arab Intifada, as well as MK Said Nafa, who departed for an illegal visit to Syria recently. Salah, who has been indicted for incitement to violence, was present at the press conference.

El Al, which is known worldwide for its security and the fact that its flights have never been successfully hijacked, responded to the charges saying its security checks are mandated by the Israel Airports Authority.
