Protest Called For Wednesday Outside PM's Residence

"The time has come to wake up and shout!" says an announcement by the Women in Green activist group, which has called a protest for Wednesday evening, September 19th to protest "The treacherous agreement being secretly concocted by [Prime Minister Ehud] Olmert and [Fatah Chief Mahmoud] Abbas."

The protest will begin at 7 PM opposite the Prime Minister's Jerusalem residence, at Paris Square. It takes place as Olmert hosts US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for dinner. Protesters are being asked to bring shofars (rams' horns) with them.

A press release about the event: "The public has no faith in the Olmert government, but also has no power to democratically influence the government’s actions. We therefore place the Olmert government on notice that neither the Jewish people nor the citizens of Israel are bound by the diplomatic acts of their leaders...We declare that we do not recognize or accept this government’s right to dismember the country, destroy cities and towns, exile and render homeless hundreds of thousands of Jews, steal their assets and livelihood, and pauperize them as they did to the loyal citizens of Gush Katif. We do not recognize or accept this government’s right to give away our Biblical heartland to a fictitious people for a fictitious state. We do not recognize its right to annul the prophecies of the Bible which were fulfilled by the Jews’ return to Zion, nor do we recognize its power to use the Zionist enterprise to dispossess the Jews of their homeland."
