MK Zehava Galon, who heads the pro-Arab Meretz faction in the Knesset, wants the government to brief the Knesset on the operation the IDF reportedly carried out in Syria 10 days ago.

In a letter she sent to the Attorney General Monday, she wrote: "in light of the reports by foreign sources about an attack by Israeli planes in Syria a week and a half ago, and the complete silence in Israel about what happened or didn't happen, I request that you inform the Prime Minister of his legal duty to report about any extraordinary activity by the IDF to the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, or to one of its subcommittees."

Galon cited "basic democratic principles" as mandating Knesset oversight of IDF operations beyond Israel's borders, "if not beforehand then at least retroactively."
